In reviewing My Book
of Life by Oluwadahunsi, I was immediately captivated by the uniqueness
of the word presentation which was accompanied by beautiful, breath-taking
pictures that were provided as a courtesy to the author by the U. S. Fish
and Wildlife Service.
As a former publisher
and present-day author, I respect written words and their power to influence
the thinking of others. This book, without a doubt, delivers very powerful
messages. Most readers will label the book as poetry and, indeed, the words
are poetic as they dance with the wind, unstrained by technical boundaries.
But behind the words there is much wisdom to ponder. Every sentence could be
the beginning of a story as it speaks of the fundamentals of life. Readers
will feel the free spirit of the author as they read his words of wit,
purpose, guidance, and love; they will experience various emotions that
respond and tug at their intellect as well as their hearts. In order to
entice you, I am providing a few partial quotes from my favorite lines in
the book.
“The best way to avoid a
mistake is not to make it . . .” Page 4
“Nobody ever went broke
selling ignorance . . .” Page 6
“If you have no backbone
how will you stand . . .” Page 18
“Finger pointing leaves
no hands . . .” Page 51
I recommend this book
unconditionally to everyone, regardless of their reading tastes. My Book
of Life is much more than poetry hemmed in by rhythm and meter; it
contains free, unencumbered text that awakens the senses with
thought-provoking messages. It is a book that will always be up-to-date.
