Thomas Bolme, Jr.
Thomas Bolme, Jr. is a teacher, writer, and reader. Way back when he
was in college, he decided teaching children about the joys of reading
and writing sounded like it might be something worth pursing. And so
that’s what he did, earning a BS in Elementary Education, concentrating
in the language arts area. Now, years later, he’s still doing that job,
and loving every minute of it (except on a few of those rougher days
that make him realize why he’s getting a pay check). Currently he is
looking into several MFA programs for creative writing and once he stops
procrastinating he’ll probably apply.
His other great interests, obviously, are reading and writing. He’s
been published in a few magazines and his story "Granddad’s Story: A
Tale from Ancient China" won an honorable mention in the 74th Annual
Writer’s Digest Writing Competition for the Children’s Fiction category.
He is a proofreader for the magazine Strange Horizons and a member of
the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators. Likewise, he is
a member of several writers’ workshops for fantasy, science fiction, and
horror. That being said, his focus tends to be on fiction in the
children’s, fantasy, or science fiction realm.
When he’s not reading, writing, or teaching he tends to be asleep.
